]]> Ludwig van Beethovens 23. Klaviersonate mit dem Beinamen Appassionata („Die Leidenschaftliche“) gehört zu seinen bekanntesten Klavierwerken. Sie markiert einen Höhepunkt in seinem künstlerischen Schaffen. Emil Grigorjewitsch Gilels galt neben Swjatoslaw Richter als der beste sowjetische Pianist seiner Zeit – und zudem als virtuoser Beethoven-Interpret. Diese Aufnahmen entstanden in den Jahren 1972 bis 1975 für die Deutsche Grammophon.

Bei diesem Titel handelt es sich um eine SHM-SACD. Dieses Format ist die Weiterentwicklung der Single-Layer-SACD und verwendet einen besonders lichttransparenten Kunststoff (Super High Material). Durch ihn wird eine deutlich bessere Auslesbarkeit der Pit-Land-Strukturen auf der Oberfläche erreicht als bei Hybrid-SACDs möglich. Die SHM-SACDs von Universal werden generell von den Masterbändern der Alben ohne Veränderungen neu in DSD digitalisiert. SHM-SACDs können auf jedem SACD-Spieler wiedergegeben werden. Bitte verwenden Sie weder L’Art du Son noch alkoholbasierte Reinigungsmittel. – Achtung: Alle Titel werden von Universal Music als Sammlerstücke in Limited Edition für den japanischen Markt konzipiert.

    ]]>     Tchaikovsky Gilels Piano Concerto. Emil Gilels (1916-1985) has been a leading light of the extraordinary Russian piano school. He was capable to reach an astonishing bravura performance with amazing exuberance.

    A very good performer of Beethoven’s sonatas, Gilels was outstanding also in the Russian repertoire.

    Along with the famous Concert no.1 in B flat minor he often proposed also the less celebrated Concert no.2 in G major.
    That’s exactly what is featuring our CD with two live recordings from the 1959 Turin and Leningrad performances.

    In both of them his magnetic force and the power of his music sound interpretation become strongly evident. They’re creating a music document of monumental grandeur and which can be doubtless considered a milestone in the discography of this two compositions.
